Skippy Paws, Skippy Toes

Last summer of 2015 my husband's friend gave us one of their puppies. Although hesitant at first, we still took the risk of taking care of this wonderful puppy. We travelled all the way from Cebu to Bacolod to get the puppy. A cross breed from a maltese and a shih tzu we are a bit surprised when he looks more like a japanese spitz. With no veterinary records, we literally started from scratch. Brought him to the vet, gave him immunization shots, bought vitamins and grooming kits. We decided to take the land trip back to Cebu and bought the puppy a dog cage so he could travel with us back home. My youngest son named him skippy since he said his heart skipped a beat when he saw his baby pictures. Skippy grows to be a loving dog, thoughtful and playful. He loves to cuddle and clingy as he is, he wanted to be with us always.

Skippy is an adventurous dog who wanted to explore. Since we are not yet scheduled to return to Cebu we went sightseeing first and brought him to Campuestohan Highlands which is roughly an hour travel from where we are staying in Alijis.  My daughter got skip to sit on her lap all through the entire trip.  Since we rented a jeepney, skip does not feel nauseous.  Luckily, skip behaved and for a 2-3 month old pup he seemed toilet trained.

He looked so refreshed we he got down the jeep. What a relief for us when he is allowed to go in the resort and was not charged the 100 peso entrance fee. He stayed with us in our rented cottage most of the time and though we have brought with us a feast, Skippy only contents himself in milk and a few bites of dog food that we brought for him. As a treat however, my youngest son Zenjo gave him barbecued ribs which he nibbled happily.

We went there on a monday so there were few local tourists and foreigners. Still, Skippy being the only puppy around in the area attracts too much attention from time to time. Zenjo took him strolling along the huge transformer statues and even brought him to play in the park. He had a lot of time running around, skipping to and fro enjoying all the beautiful thing there is.  He also took advantage of the cold weather and slept his heart out.  He comfortably lay beside my feet waiting for his next adventure.
